Guttering, Fascias & Soffits in Gloucester
Gutters that keep up with a cloudburst, fascias that are not rotting behind the plastic, and eaves that let the roof breathe โ repaired or replaced, in uPVC, aluminium or cast iron.
Roofline work across Gloucester
Gutter repairs and clearing
Blocked outlets, leaking joints, sagging runs and brackets that have pulled out. We clear, re-align and re-seal, and check the downpipes while we are there.
Full gutter replacement
uPVC for most modern houses, aluminium for long life and a slimmer look, and cast iron or cast-iron-style on period homes where it is right for the street.
Fascia and soffit replacement
Rotten timber replaced, or the whole eaves line renewed in uPVC. We do not cap rotten timber in plastic and leave it to keep rotting.
Eaves ventilation
A roof needs air at the eaves to keep the loft dry. New soffits come with ventilation, and we check the insulation is not blocking it.
Bargeboards and verges
The gable-end boards and the slates or tiles above them, often weathered and loose on exposed sides.
Downpipes and gullies
Downpipes that are split, disconnected or discharging against the wall.
Gutters and Gloucester rain
Gloucester is a low, flat city where heavy rain arrives quickly. In July 2007 the council’s own analysis found that it was the streams coming off the Cotswolds that overtopped in urban Gloucester first, before the Severn rose. Your gutters are a much smaller system, but the principle is the same: if water cannot get away quickly, it goes somewhere you do not want it.
An overflowing gutter soaks the wall, finds its way behind the fascia and into the rafter ends, and often looks like a roof leak from inside. Fixing the gutter properly โ the right size, the right fall, outlets in the right place โ is usually far cheaper than the damp it causes.
On Victorian houses in Barton, Tredworth and Kingsholm, gutters may be cast iron, sometimes fixed straight to the brickwork or hidden behind a parapet. We repair those in kind rather than reaching for plastic by default.

Guttering FAQs
How often should gutters be cleared?
Once a year for most houses, twice if there are trees nearby. Overflowing in heavy rain is the sign it is overdue.
Can you replace just one section?
Yes, if the rest is sound. If the whole run is old and brittle, we will tell you a full run makes more sense.
Should I replace fascias with uPVC?
For most post-war and modern houses, yes. On period houses in conservation areas, painted timber is often more appropriate.
Do you do cast iron?
Yes โ repair, re-sealing and replacement, or a cast-aluminium alternative that looks the part.
